Camp Zlatorog, Bohinj

A gem in Triglav National Park

You’ve certainly heard of Lake Bohinj, right? And there is a cute campsite with a proper summer splash vibe right on the shore.

Magical misty morning views and afternoon boat rides

We were so lucky to be able to spend 3 nights and almost 5 days in the wonderful land of Camp Bohinj. As mentioned above, we had a piece of our private beach right in front of our van, even though we didn’t take the plunge. Unfortunately it was rainy, humid and pretty cold for most of the time. The day before leaving the sun warmed us up, cleared the sky and awarded us with some vivid colorful scenery for fairy-tale photos.
However, since the first contact, the staff were really kind and helpful, not only with their energy but also with instructions about campsite, possible activities and suggestions for snacks. We enjoyed the pancakes quite a few times on the porch of the restaurant on-site, where you can also get pizzas, hamburgers, warm and cold beverages and some stews to warm you up in bad weather.
The camp itself has about 500 pitches and some of them are really near the lake, equipped with electricity and new sanitary facilities really nearby.
as you move through the camp, you can find tent pitches carefully located in the safe shelter and shade of the grove, which especially convenient in the summer heat and if you like a little more privacy.
The camp vibe is very relaxed, more of a free-style and it’s a great starting point for many strolls, hikes and sightseeing in the nearby. On the last day we also took some time to inflate our SUP and enjoyed some paddling on the Lake Bohinj.
What we loved most is the actual lake view, that surprised us with a different scenery every morning.
