Waterfall Nadiža and the spring of Nadiža

Spring and waterfall Nadiža

So quiet and peaceful

While visiting Tamar, take a few steps up the hill – Steep and narrow, but so worth the hike!

Narrow path with stunning views

So tiny, yet so beautiful.

Our visit to Nadiža waterfall in the Tamar Valley was absolutely breathtaking. Nestled at the base of the mighty Jalovec mountain, this stunning waterfall originates from the Nadiža spring, known for its crystal-clear water. The surrounding landscape is a showcase of alpine beauty, with dense forests and the sound of water echoing through the valley. The spring is up in the slopes, but so peaceful and tiny.

We began our journey in Planica, following a well-marked trail through the peaceful valley to the Tamar mountain hut. The walk was fairly easy and took around 40 minutes, providing stunning views of the valley and surrounding peaks. It’s perfect for families and those looking to immerse themselves in nature’s wonders – in any season.

We learned that the waterfall is most vibrant in spring and summer when snowmelt and rainfall feed the spring, creating a powerful cascade. However, winter transforms the waterfall into a magical frozen scene, offering a different, equally enchanting experience.

What made our  summer visit special was not just the natural beauty but also the legends tied to the Nadiža spring. The water is said to have healing properties, and standing near the waterfall, we definitely felt its energy and filled our waterbottles, of course 🙂

This area truly is more than just a tourist spot; it’s a place filled with natural wonder and cultural significance.
