An all time favourite place to be in the off season. The Cerknica lake is one of the  biggest intermittent  lakes in Europe. You might as well google it, but please do take a moment to enjoy this trully awesome brilliance of nature.

It was our go to in the lockdown, because it is about 10min drive  from where we used to live at the time. You can enjoy endless walking and cycling trails or just sit by the water and let yourself  get hypnotized  by the pulsing of slow but steady waves. When it’s dry season, you can actually walk on the lake  bottom and experience the sensation of an abandoned desert – how cool is that?

The Cerknica lake was also one of the first spots where we had our breakfast outside in the nature and also bringing  our coffee with us. As this was in the beginning of our adventures and we didn’t have as much equipment as we do now and we were intentionally doing it the simple way, we made coffee at home and brought it with us in an insulated bottle. We were doing this on a regular basis and still love to do it here and there. Simple and natural is the best.
